My first trip to Japan had been in planning for a long time. I don’t remember when my interest for Japan started, but I do remember how I was dreaming, read everything related to Japan and saved up money to be able to go. Finally one day in early spring 2000 the possibility arrived. I was working at a Swedish newspaper, and managed to take two weeks off. I had established contact with a Japanese editor to show me around and also had a few jobs booked with a Swedish correspondent. Upon arriving I was struck by Tokyo as being everything I ever expected and more. The two weeks were spent photographing every day, twenty-four seven. I went home with a massive material from my first impressions of the megacity and an urge to soon be back again.
